lessons from Vanderbilt athletics

Blog, Featured No Comments

At Vanderbilt, student-athletes are afforded opportunities to study abroad, to partake in summer internships to their increase career readiness, and to visit and learn about the good work being done in the broader Nashville community. Student-athletes are cultivated as responsible civic actors. Vanderbilt also emphasizes holistic student development by hiring high character staff and coaches like Bryce Drew. The department communicates with partners on campus to ensure that all incoming athletes have capacity to graduate in their degree areas of choice. As we look for models of how college athletics can and should be, there is much to learn from this campus and its athletic director, David Williams. It was a pleasure to visit Vanderbilt Athletics this summer.
