leading embedded work

Blog, Featured No Comments

Embeddedness — closeness to the action — is so critical when it comes to addressing poverty. Here in Madison, Joining Forces for Families is an exemplar. This is complex work that needs to be carried out by professionals who are smart, compassionate, resilient, and creative.

Dr. Richard Christensen operated from a similar angle — with intelligence, humility, compassion, and determination — in Jacksonville.

And although it was developed with the best of intent, Mayor de Blasio’s community embedded health worker program went sour due to significant leadership problems.

Embedded models are necessary but insufficient. The right people must guide community work.
