There are many stories about the “new” faces of homelessness, but these stories have been written regularly since 2009. What is new is school and community recognition that this is not a peripheral issue. Leaders need to be smart about how they can work across sectors to support homeless children and families. They might look, for example, to the innovative work being done in Pittsburgh through the Homeless Children’s Education Fund.
