One size does not fit all…
The Guardian has a series on the “bottom 1%,” or “people who earn $2,500 or less a year.” This week, a homeless student named William highlights how his experience with homelessness shares similarities with that of Dasani but has also been very different (Dasani’s story was reported in The New York Times by Andrea Elliot on 12/9/2013).
It is important for educators, policymakers, and researchers to remember that even though homelessness can present common challenges, it is also experienced by students and families in diverse ways.
