Children’s\u00a0Research on UW Campus<\/strong>Do you have a child in Kindergarten\u00a0through 12th grade that would be interested in participating in math research on the UW campus? \u00a0Participants will play various math games and complete paper-and-pencil assessments with a member of our research team. \u00a0We offer monetary compensation, a small gift, and a parking voucher. \u00a0Check out the available studies below!<\/p>\n

Cultivating Math Knowledge (Children in Grades 3 or 6<\/em>):\u00a0 <\/strong>We are studying how children develop their understanding of math and numbers. Understanding math early is important for later success in algebra and higher math, and the lab is studying ways that this understanding emerges. LAMBDA (Children in Grades 3 or 6): <\/strong>The Longitudinal Analysis of Mathematical Brain Development and Abilities (LAMBDA)\u00a0Learning Community is\u00a0investigating the development of fraction knowledge in children. Knowledge of fractions and mathematical competence are important determinants of life chances in modern society and are even known to impact educational, employment, and health outcomes. Despite the importance of fraction knowledge, children and adults often encounter considerable difficulties understanding fractions.
